Real Madrid and Barcelona continue to steamroll La Liga

Real Madrid 3-2 Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid returned to the top of the Primera Division after hitting back from a half-time deficit to continue their long-standing domination of local rivals Atletico with a 3-2 win.

Real, who have not lost to Atletico since 1999, looked in some trouble as they trailed 1-0 at the break following Jose Reyes' opener.

However, three quickfire goals at the start of the second period from Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa and Gonzalo Higuain put Real in control, and they held on for the points despite Diego Forlan reducing the deficit from the penalty spot.

Real Mallorca 0-1 Barcelona

Barcelona stayed second in the Primera Division standings on goal differnce by becoming only the second team to take points off Real Mallorca at their Ono Estadi this season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 63rd-minute strike - his third of the week - proved to be the winner.

Mallorca had won 12 of 13 matches at home coming into this game, having only lost to Sevilla previously, and they can feel somewhat unlucky not to have led at the break after hitting the post twice in the first period.

It proved costly when Xavi's corner was stabbed goalwards by Carles Puyol and, although his effort was blocked, Ibrahimovic was on hand to slot home from close range for his 15th goal of the season.
