HORSES : I'll have Another retires - scratched from Belmont Stakes

This years US super horse - I'll have Another - has been sensationally scratched from the Belmont Stakes and retired from all racing as tendonitis was detected in his left front leg.

The New York Post is reporting that the Kentucky Derby and Preakness champion lost definition in his leg and the swelling returned on a subsequent gallop.

Veterinarian Dr. Jim Hunt diagnosed the problem as the start of tendonitis in his left front leg, and this injury could take up to six months to heal. I'll Have Another would need another six months of training after that before he could race again.

Trainer Doug O'Neill and the owners have decided that the investment might not pay off and have elected to retire the horse instead.

With I'll Have Another out of the race, Dullahan has been installed as the 9-5 favorite in a field of 11.
