Tottenham sack Tim Sherwood

Tottenham have parted company with manager Tim Sherwood after the club finished sixth in the Premier League.

Sherwood took over in December 2013 with the White Hart Lane side outside the four Champions League qualifying spots and Spurs ended the campaign in 6th spot but 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal.

"We agreed an 18-month contract with a break clause at the end of the season and we have now exercised that option," said Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Leading contenders for the job are rumoured to be Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax boss Frank de Boer.
